My name is Colin Bates, I'm an enthusiast in the world of visual storytelling, with a degree in Digital Cinematography and a passion for photography. My journey in this creative realm began at a young age, capturing moments through the lens of my first camera over seven years ago. Since then, I honed my skills and transformed my love for visual arts into a career. From framing breathtaking landscapes to composing compelling narratives, I believe that every frame has the power to convey emotions and ignite imagination.

 

My degree has provided me with the knowledge and discipline to create powerful visual stories that not only look professional but leave a lasting impact on the viewer. My camera has been pointed at every subject under the sun such as portraits, weddings, real estate, narrative films, commercials, and more. My personal art style has a dark undertone and is very moody which evokes feelings of uncertainty and awe. Even though that is my personal style I still have the capability to invoke any feeling needed through my shoots and editing for clients.

 

I’m grateful to say I’ve collaborated with renowned brands such as New Amsterdam Vodka and Camarena Tequila, and have successfully translated their brand ideas into visually striking campaigns. Additionally, my photos have been featured in St. Louis Post Dispatch. One of my proudest moments was when my short film "Jake's Story" received an honorable mention at the SWIFF Film Festival. This recognition not only reflects my storytelling power but also highlights my ability to connect with audiences on a higher level.
